    Ice fishing event set for Jan. 7 at Bluebill Wildlife Area

    MASON CITY – An ice fishing event sponsored by the Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board and Lime Creek Nature Center will be from 9-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, at Bluebill Wildlife Area. A fun morning of fishing for all is the main goal of this program.

    Really big Illinois walleye through the ice: Fish of the Week

    Here’s to a young man with an old fish. While ice fishing, Jim Cieslica of Plato Center caught a 29-inch walleye from private waters in Illinois. The Frigid Outdoors pro was nominated by his ice-fishing teammate Nick Langton, the Glenbard North grad who helped start the bass fishing club for the Panthers.

    This Monday, my wife and I drove to see the grand kids out past the Oneonta Airport and on Upper East Street. On the way back, we noticed a truck parked alongside the dam of Wilber Lake, the Oneonta reservoir. Two guys pulling sleds were heading out across the ice to fish.

    Conditions improving for ice fishing in Minnesota

    MINNEAPOLIS – With most Minnesota lakes sporting glare ice thanks to a cleansing rain, anglers are returning in growing numbers to their winter fishing holes with hopes of a longer season than a year ago.
