North American Hunter

The month of September is always a preview of fall for deer hunters and it marks the time to start getting ready for hunting season. Late August and early September is a time to get that tree stand or ground blind set up if you have not done it yet. It is a time to go over hunting strategies. There is always something to learn when it comes to whitetail deer. Hopefully by now you have done some pre-season scouting, to find out where the deer are and where their travel routes and feeding and bedding areas are. As always you should scout right up until the deer season starts and continue well into deer season.

Have you been shopping around for a deer decoy for this year. More and more deer hunters are starting to utilize decoys in deer hunting. Sure there are times they don't work, but nothing is 100 percent.

You should keep scent strategies in mind for your upcoming deer season. You want the area where your hunting to look, and above all smell, natural. That's not to say don't ever use doe in heat scent . Use a scent remover or some kind of scent killer . Or you could use a cover-up scent such as coon urine. It is natural most everywhere that there are raccoons so it doesn't spook the deer.

Try to keep your deer hunting clothes in a plastic bag or some sort of scent proof container, like a tote so that foreign smells don't saturate into them. You can put some plants and foliage from your deer hunting area in with your clothes. Nothing better then having natural smelling clothes, then sticky sweaty ones.
This is the time of the year that the fun begins for serious deer hunters.

We at Field-N-water wish all deer hunters a happy and safe 2009-2010 deer season.
